  To provide a platform for a Free and Independent Press in accordance with the First Amendment to the Bill of Rights of the  United States Constitution and The North Carolina State Constitution, Article 1 section 14, Freedom of speech and press. (Freedom of speech and of the press are two of the great bulwarks of liberty and therefore shall never be restrained but every person shall be held responsible for their abuse.)

To hold those in power either public officials ,semipublic, or private whose decisions, actions, or policies,  that affect the lives, liberties, pursuit of happiness, the enjoyment of the fruits of one’s labors. environment and communities, accountable to the people who are affected.

To uphold  a standard of reporting that is fact based and fair to all parties involved in order to obtain the truth.
